Teen Read Week


Happy Teen Read Week!! At the Library, we're celebrating all week with programs EVERY DAY!

Monday - Silent Library @ 7 pm
Tuesday - Find a Good Book...Online @ 7 pm
Wednesday - Speed Book Dating @ 7 pm
Thursday - Just READ @ 7 pm
Friday - After-Hours Video Gaming @ 6 pm

All week long you can also participate in Get Caught Reading and the Teen Book Scavenger Hunt!  For more info on all of these fun programs, check out the last blog post, the Library event calendar, or the bulletin board by the Reference Desk.  You can also call (847) 929-5101 to find out more.

Throughout the week you could also win Teen Read Week prizes!  Earn entries to the TRW drawing just for coming to programs or participating in Get Caught Reading or the Teen Book Scavenger Hunt.  You could win a boxed set of great series like The Hunger Games, Twilight, Uglies, Percy Jackson, and more OR an iTunes gift card OR a copy of Breaking Dawn autographed by Stephenie Meyer!!

October Programs

There's big stuff happening at MGPL in October!  Here's what's going on for you. All teens in 7th grade and up are invited to these programs. Bring your friends! Some of the programs require registration.

Gettin' Saucy Teen Cooking Class
Wed. October 13th, 6-7 pm
Learn to prepare delicious food! Supplies and instructions provided. Registration required. Registration is limited to 8 and is open NOW!

DIY Crafts: Bookmarks
Sat. October 16th, 1-2 pm, Youth Services Activity Room
Come to the Library and make your own unique bookmarks using paper, beads, and duct tape! Instructions and supplies are provided. Registration is required and open NOW!
 
TEEN READ WEEK! (October 17-23)
Participate in these programs throughout the week and earn entry tickets for the Teen Read Week drawing!  Prizes include gift cards and popular teen books!

Get Caught Reading
ALL WEEK
Get caught reading in the Library during Teen Read Week and earn an entry to the Teen Read Week prize drawing!

Teen Book Scavenger Hunt
ALL WEEK
Pick up a list of questions about young adult books in the Teen Zone, fill out your answers, and turn it in by 5 pm, Sat., Oct. 23.  All teens who play will receive an entry ticket for the Teen Read Week prize drawing!  If you answer at least 7 out of 10 questions correctly, you'll also receive a small prize! 

Silent Library
Mon. October 18th, 7-8 pm, Teen Zone
Join us for a book discussion just for teens! Food and drinks will be provided. Registration is required and is open NOW! We'll have a drawing for prizes - books!

Teen Tech Workshop: Find a Good Book...Online!
Tues. October 19th, 7-8 pm, Estelle Cooperman Board Room
Attend this hands-on computer workshop and learn about websites you can use to find great teen books recommended for you or readalikes of your favorite books. Registration is limited to 6. Morton Grove residents have priority. Earn one entry ticket to the Teen Read Week prize drawing for attending! 

Speed Book Dating
Wed. October 20th, 7-8 pm, Youth Services Activity Room
Still looking for a good book? Come to the Library, spend a few minutes with a lot of books, and decide which ones you like best. Food and drinks will be provided. Earn one entry ticket to the Teen Read Week prize drawing for attending! Registration is required. 
   
Just READ
Thurs. October 21st, 7-8:30 pm, Estelle Cooperman Board Room  
Bring a book you heard about at a recent program or grab a book, magazine, or graphic novel off the shelf and read at the Library! Earn one entry ticket to the Teen Read Week prize drawing for attending! Write a review of a book you’ve read and earn up to three more entry tickets. Food and drinks will be provided. Registration is required. 

After-Hours Video Gaming
Fri. October 22nd, 6-7:30 pm, Baxter Room Auditorium
Play video games at the Library after closing! Compete with your friends or challenge the Young Adult Librarian and win to earn prizes or reduce overdue fines! Earn one entry ticket to the Teen Read Week prize drawing for attending. Teens must be in the Baxter Room before 6 pm.
