Twilight the Movie

The first book in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series is scheduled to come to the big screen in December of 2008. Kristen Stewart, who was most recently in The Messengers and Into the Wild, will play Bella Swan and Robert Pattinson, who was Cedric Diggory in the last two Harry Potter movies, will play our favorite vampire Edward. If you want to know the latest details about the movie go to The Internet Movie Database website.

If you still haven't read Twilight, stop by the Library and check it out-- and remember, if it's checked out (and it might be, because it's so popular) you can put on hold on it at the Reference Services Desk or from your computer at home!

Happy Birthday Roald Dahl!

How many Roald Dahl books did you read when you were little? Did you take your little brothers and sisters to see the newest movie version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory when it came out?

Today would have been children's author Roald Dahl's 91st birthday, so celebrate! Reread an old favorite like James and the Giant Peach, The Twits, or Fantastic Mr. Fox. Even Google is celebrating his birthday by dressing up their Google icon with a giant peach and chocolate bar.

What a great excuse to read his books again!

Freshman Orientation @ Maine East H.S.

Maine East High School continued its Freshman Orientation last week with a tour of their library. I was at Maine East High School's Library on Friday, talking to classes about MGPL's teen programs and services and giving students information on how to get a Morton Grove Library card. Students learned that after school closes, the Library is a great place to get extra help with school work. I told students about our 24 Hour Library- where you can download books and videos, research a topic, and ask a Librarian a question anytime of the day! Students also loved that Morton Grove PL has a Video Game collection, a Teen Zone to watch movies and listen to music, and has a growing collection of PlayAways (the latest in audiobooks). Check the Library's Catalog to see what is available. How? Go to Power Search and change the type of material to either Video Game or Audiobook-PlayAway, press the return key on your computer and start browsing!
